Stud Poker - Seven Card Stud Poker
Stud Poker is a variant of the Poker card game where players get each of their cards in a combination of face-up cards and face down cards.
The most popular stud game both online and offline is the Seven Card Stud Poker which can be played with 2 to 8 players and is only played with a limit betting structure and normally with ante paid by all players.
In this game each player is dealt two cards face down and one exposed card. The player with the lowest exposed card is forced to make a small bet and thereafter the betting round continues clockwise. If there are two players with the same low card the suit determines the loser with in the following order from highest to lowest spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs.
After the first betting round each player receives another exposed card which is called the Fourth Street. This time the player to start the betting round either by checking or betting is the one with the best cards (highest poker hand) of the two exposed cards. The size of the bet depends on the cards exposed. If the player with the highest hand has a pair the bet is the double or big bet and if the player with the best hand doesn't have a pair he will have to bet a small bet. For example in a 1$/2$ game a player with a pair can either bet 2$ or check and if the highest hand is not a pair then only 1$.
After this betting round each player received another card face up which is called the Fifth Street. Like in the Fourth Street the player to start is the one with the highest hand among the shown cards and the betting is now minimum a big bet.
The next card called the Sixth Street is exactly the same where the player with the highest hand acts first and can either check or raise a big bet and the rest of the players can thereafter check, fall or raise.
The last card also called the Seventh Street is dealt face down and the player to act first is the same player as after the sixth street.
After the last betting round and if there are more than one player remaining it is time for the showdown. The player with the best five card combination between the seven cards available wins the pot. If more than one player have identical hands the pot is split between them.
